Editorial and photo policy

This page explains how we research venues, how our scores work, where our photos come from and how to ask for a correction or takedown. We want every page on PenangKTV to be accurate, fair and useful to someone planning a night out.

Sources we use

We check sources in a fixed order. First come the venue's own channels: Facebook, Instagram, website, posted menus and package posters. Next come map listings and mall directories for addresses and hours. After that, we read recent public reviews and local forum threads to understand rooms, crowds and typical spending. Finally, supplier and press mentions sometimes confirm details such as a renovation or new sound system. Each venue page lists a "last verified" date for these checks.

What we will not publish

• Invented prices, phone numbers or opening hours. When a venue does not publish a detail, the page says "Ask the venue".
• Copied text from other websites. We paraphrase facts and write everything ourselves.
• Quoted customer reviews. Instead, we summarise themes that come up again and again.
• Explicit or sexual content. Lounges are 18+ venues that serve alcohol, and we describe them factually.

How our scores work

Venue pages carry an editorial score out of five on four axes: rooms and sound, drinks and food, service, and value. Scores reflect what the venue publishes about itself, the consistency of public review themes, and how the price compares with similar venues. Nobody pays for them, and they are not user ratings. For that reason, we do not mark them up as aggregate ratings in search results. When a venue has very little public information, we publish a short listing instead of a scored review.

Photos and credits

Where possible, we use photos published by the venue itself, with a visible credit that links to the original page. We never hotlink images from other sites, and we do not reuse photography from other review websites. When no usable venue photo exists, we show an original illustration of a neon sign in a dark room. These illustrations carry a placeholder flag, and we swap them out when a venue shares its own photos.

Takedowns and corrections

If you own a photo on this site and want it removed or credited differently, email hello@ktvpenang.com with the page link. We act on takedown requests within 48 hours. Likewise, if a fact is wrong, tell us and we will recheck it. Each correction also updates the "last verified" date on the page.

Prices and taxes

Prices on this site exclude 10% service charge and SST unless stated, and they carry the date we saw them. Read the price guide for how minimum spend, service charge and tax add up.
